Network Operations Center... In A Cave?
After driving 1/4 mile into a cave entrance on the side of "Observatory Hill," under the close surveillence of security cameras and an
occasional security guard or police officer... doors and walls suddenly appear, sandwiched between massive
stone pillars. Once inside our facility, you enter a large open room with solid rock walls and ceiling, computer racks
and consoles, and three large projection screens on the front wall displaying the status of critical system services.
"Where's Batman?"
"Did they film the movie 'War Games' here?"
Jokes. We've heard them several times by now, but we don't mind. After the jokes, visitors quickly
realize that this is one of the best facilities of its type in the industry.

In 2001, we designed and built our KCI Network Operations Center in one of the safest places on Earth,
or to be more precise, in Earth. Before deciding on this location, the risk factors of several
possible calamities -- fire, flood, tornado, hurricane, and earthquake, just to name a few -- were weighed.
The results of this evaluation lead us to build our Network Operations Center in this specific facility.

Further Proof That Our "Cave" Decision Was RIGHT...
On Sunday, May 4, 2003, the nation's attention was focused on the midwest,
as tornadoes struck several cities, including our own... just a few blocks from RTSI's KCI Network Operations Center. The picture shows
the destruction caused to one of our above-ground business neighbors. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Had this tornado veered less than a half-mile to the East, it would have scored a direct hit on our location.
But even a direct tornado hit would have passed harmlessly overhead, causing NO DAMAGE to RTSI and NO HARM to our team members.
Yes, off-site backup measures are a necessity in this business, and even companies that have their facilities in wide-open office parks
will claim that they are adequately protected from disasters. RTSI simply chose to take this protection one step further,
and apply the same kind of "do it right the first time" thinking to our facility as we have done with our systems and services.
